Autumn Leaves Writing

Autumn Leaves

Brown and orange cover the ground like mud.
Crumpled edges as bright as the sun twirling from the tree.
They crash to the ground like a crackling like a witch, the veins are the only things that survived.
The leaves are orange like lava.

                                                 Beth

Leaves lay in a pile like a colourful carpet.
They flutter down like a butterfly.
The crunch is as loud as a lions roar.
Thousands of colourful leaves gently touch the ground like little silky feathers landing on your finger tip.
Shades of brown, red, orange and yellow coming together like chocolate and caramel, slowly come to an end.

                                         Paige

Down the tree comes a group of leaves gold like the stars.
They make a soft blanket like a quilt on a bed.
They crunch like when someone’s eating a crunchie bar.
Sun shines on the leaves and makes them glow as bright as glow worms.
The leaves turn as brown as chocolate and crunch up when someone touches them.

                                        Mia

Golden and brown leaves twirl on to the ground like ballerinas.
On the ground they look like a colourful carpet.
They feel like crunched up paper and sound like toast when you bite into it.

                                          Becky

Bright colours, yellow, brown, red and orange gently float along with the wind.
Gracefully they land like aeroplanes that have just started coming in.
Piles of leaves like carpets lie softly on the ground as soft as sheep’s skin.
Leaves sit peacefully on the end of branches like people waiting at the top of slides.
Beams of sunrays make the leaves look like gold.
I love leaves in autumn.

                                              Lily

Leaves shoot past me like shooting stars crashing to the ground.
Floating leaves are dark brown like delicious dairy milk chocolate.
A waterfall of colourful leaves fall to the ground and form a soft crunchy pillow like the pillow on my bed.

                                            Jessica

Leaves as yellow as the sun spread across the ground like a carpet.
They twirl like a ballerina down from the tree.
Crunch, they crumple up like paper.
They are as colourful as a rainbow.
When the sun shines on them they glow like bright glow worms.

Taniwha and Seahorses

Finally our taniwha and seashorses are complete and displayed in our room.
We had to sketch them into our sketching books, then when we were satisfied with them
we put the outline on our good paper.  We put colour flow around the outline and then using a dry dye
method we painted our pictures with dye so that they came out nice and bright.
Then we had to use blue, green and white paint to sponge a background.
We think they turned out really well, and we are proud of them.

Geometry

This term we have been doing Geometry - specifically 2 and 3D shapes.
We have been creating 3D shapes with straws.
It's not as easy as it looks.

Welcome Back.

A big welcome back to Term 2.
We have a wonderful new look classroom - during the holidays Room 2 got new carpet, lighting and blue on our walls.  The old heating system from around the classroom was taken out.  It has given us lots more room for learning.  We are looking forward to a great term 2.  Watch this space to keep up with learning in Room 2.
