POCKET BOOKLETS

As part of our reading activities we created our own Pocket Booklets about the animal we had been reading about.  We created the pocket book first - then we went onto google docs and wrote the facts we had learnt during reading.  We used the research tool on google docs and added more information and images.

A Cloudy Lesson

After watching a silent video clip titled A Cloudy Lesson we wrote our own words for the story.

A Cloudy Lesson

One day grandad said to his little boy “follow me!” “Where to?”replied the boy.”You’ll see!” said grandad.  Grandad brought the boy to a tall tower fort. They started up a long set of stairs. Once they got to the top the boy was out of breath. Grandad carefully put down a long, thin suitcase. He opened it up and delicately lifted a long metal bar out. ”What’s that?” asked the boy.  ”A cloud maker!” replied grandad.  He took a deep breath and blew a whispy, white, fluffy cloud. “Have a go” said grandad. The boy took a deep breath and blew a tiny, white cloud. The boy tried again but this time he tripped and bent the cloud maker out of shape!  The annoyed grandad helped the boy up.  The boy looked very sad for his grandad.  Suddenly the boy had an idea, he carefully bent the cloud maker into a star shape.  He passed it to grandad and said “blow.”  So grandad blew and made a huge star shaped cloud. The boy bent it into a bunny shape, grandad blew.  The boy and grandad said ”wow!”  As the sun set grandad bent the cloud maker into a heart.  The boy blew and a small heart popped out.  Grandad and the little boy gently cuddled.

Once upon a time there lived a little boy and a old grandad. They lived in a fort with a dog.  One day the little boy said “Where are we going?” The grandad replied, ‘Up there”. “Why are we going up there?”  “You will see” said the grandad. So they climbed up to the fort. Grandad took his time going up the ladder. Once they got up, they got out out something that was special to the boys grandad.  So when the grandad got out a precious suitcase, the boy was so surprised at what his grandad brought out. His grandad  brought out something that the boy had never seen before.  A  cloud maker.  Grandad blew a big cloud. After the grandad blew a big cloud the little boy had a try but  he blew a little cloud.   So he tried again and broke it.   He cried.  Then he  built a shape and  the grandad blew a bunny, a star and a heart.and then they cuddled.

A Cloudy Lesson
“Grandad where are we going,”  asked the little boy.  “Up there in the clouds,” replied grandad.  So off they went.  When they got to the tippy top grandad opened one of the shiny velvet suitcases.  Grandad gently lifted a strange piece of equipment  out of the box. Then grandad said “this is a cloudblower,”   “wow,”  whispered the little boy as he saw his extraordinary grandad blow a gigantic white cloud out of the cloudblower.  It was an extremely cloudy day that day and it was because grandad had been up there all morning.  When it was the little boys turn he only blew a tincy wincy cloud.  So he leaned over and blew but that didn’t work, so he leaned over even more but when he was about to blow…boom!  He fell down and the cloud blower followed.  Grandad wasn’t that upset but he was worried who would make the clouds.  Then the little boy twisted it he turned it and he made it into a spectacular star shaped cloud blower.   He gave it to his grandad and he blew a star shaped cloud.  Then he made a bunny shaped cloud blower and gave it to grandad and he blew a huge bunny shaped cloud.  After that he made a heart shaped cloud blower and blew it himself as he whispered friends forever.

Day Dream Poems

DAYDREAMS!
Mrs Phillips thinks I’m reading
but I'm jumping on mars
or riding a squid
I’m zooming at the park
and jumping off a tree house

Mrs Phillips thinks I'm listening
but I'm eating chicken
or hunting for a rainbow
I’m rapping with M and M
and digging for gold

Mrs Phillips thinks I’m working
but I’m feeding a pig
or dancing with a dolphin
I’m singing with an octopus
and touching slime

DAYDREAMS!

Mrs Phillips thinks I’m reading
But I’m riding a shark
Or swimming with a mermaid.
I’m ice skating with butterflies and polar bears
and I’m playing on the playground

Mrs Phillips thinks I’m listening
But I’m walking on the moon
or playing with Jaylah
I’m going for a swim in the pool
and playing on the Ipad

Mrs Phillips thinks I’m working
but I’m climbing to the top of Mount Everest
or swimming in a pool of lava
I’m painting a picture
and flying with a bird

DAY DREAMS

Mrs Phillips thinks I'm reading
but I'm swimming with a sea serpent
Or I'm doing karaoke
I'm chasing a pikachu
and fighting a block of sperows

Mrs Phillips thinks I'm listening
But I'm climbing Mount Everest
or dancing with bats on the moon
I'm watching snails race in the garden
and fighting ogres in space

Mrs Phillips thinks I'm working
But I'm watching the sparkling ocean
Or riding on the back of a shark
I'm singing with Stan Walker
and swinging with an alien
